UPCOMING EVENTS:  

• CORPUS CHRISTI PARADE:
  On May 22, 2008, scouts will take part in the Corpus Christi parade  from the Cathedral and then around Independence Square.
   

• ANNUAL BARBECUE: The annual Barbecue will be held on Saturday June 14, 2008 at St. Mary's College. Tickets available from all scouts.
   

• 4th ANNUAL WILLIAM I KOCH INTERNATIONAL SEA SCOUT CUP:
  The organisers of this event invited 1st Trinidad Sea Scouts to send a two man team. David Milne and Che Perez were selected as our representatives to the Fourth Annual William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup from July 13-19, 2008. This youth sailing regatta is open to young men and women between the ages of 14 and 21 who are actively registered in the Sea Scout program. The five-day event will be held at the Naval Academy’s Sailing Centre in Annapolis, Maryland, USA. Teams from the United States and 20 countries including New Zealand, Brazil, Germany, England, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland will compete.
   

• HIGH SIERRA INTERNATIONAL SCOUT RENDEZVOUS:
  The High Sierra International Scout Rendezvous will be held in the Western Sierra Nevada mountains of California, USA from August 10-16, 2008. The Rendezvous is a mini world Jamboree with participants from many different countries. First Trinidad Sea Scouts will be represented at this Jamboree for the third time, having attended in 2000 and again in 2002.

• INVESTITURE CEREMONY:
  The annual Investiture ceremony was held at the Boathouse on Sunday May 4, 2008. Twenty one recruits were invested. See photo below.

• LIFEGUARD DUTIES - BLANCHISSEUSE BEACH:
  Thirty scouts provided lifeguard services for the children of the Orphanage during their annual outing to Blanchisseuse Beach on Sunday April 20, 2008
   
• EASTER CAMP:
  Easter Camp was held at Pt Gourde from Tuesday March 25 to Friday March 28, 2008. There were 60 scouts at the camp.
   
• GREASE:
  The show "Grease" was held at Queen's Hall, Port of Spain on March 22, 2008. The event was extremely successful. All the tickets for the show were sold. Two scouts, Edward Mootoo and Corri Latapy, took part in the play..
   
• SCOUTS ACCOMPANY SWIMMERS AROUND GASPAREE ISLAND:
  The annual swim race around Gasparee Island was held on Sunday March 9, 2008. To ensure the safety of the swimmers our scouts were asked to provide six kayakers to accompany the swimmers. Six of our scouts experienced in handling kayaks accompanied the swimmers.
   
• BEACH CLEAN UP:
  Thirty three scouts were at Matura on Sunday February 24, 2008 to assist in cleaning the beach prior to the start of the leatherback turtle nesting season. Some of the scouts also took part in the sand turtle building competition which was held after the clean up. In the children's competition Andrew Agard placed second and in the competition for teams one of our two teams in that competition placed second.
   
• CHRISTMAS CAMP:
  Seventy two scouts and recruits attended the Christmas camp at Pt. Gourde from Saturday December 15 to Tuesday December 18, 2007.
   
• SAILBOAT DONATED TO THE TROOP:
  The troop received a donation of a 31 foot Tornado sailboat with a diesel engine, comfortable cabin and a toilet. Mr Ian Serrao contacted the troop and generously offered to donate the boat. The offer was, of course, immediately accepted and Mr Serrao was assured that the troop would make regular use of it. The boat is moored at TTSA. Below are photos of the boat.
   

   

• ANNUAL SOCA / PARANG FUNDRAISER:
  "November Parang & Soca Fiesta" featuring three parang bands and two soca parang singers was held at the St. John's Centre on Sunday November 18, 2007. The entertainment started at 5:00PM and continued until the function ended at 9:00PM. Over 700 persons attended.
   
• WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE - 2007:
  Fifty one scouts from First Trinidad Sea Scouts along with two leaders attended the 21st World Scout Jamboree in Essex, England from July 27 to August 08, 2007. The group arrived in England on Sunday July 22 and moved to the Jamboree site on July 27 where they set up camp. They returned to Trinidad on August 11, 2007. The boys spent the days before and after the Jamboree sightseeing in London. The Trinidad & Tobago contingent also attended a reception at the Trinidad High Commission in London hosted by the T&T High Commissioner Mrs Glenda Morean-Phillip. See video here.

• JULY CAMP:
  The camp was held at the Boathouse from Saturday June 30 to Wednesday July 4, 2007. Over 50 scouts attended the camp.
   
• ANNUAL BARBECUE:
  The annual fund raising Barbecue was held at St. Mary's College on Saturday June 16, 2007
   
• SIR JOHN CHANCELLOR FLAG COMPETITION:
  A patrol of eight scouts, all under 15 years, took part in the National Scout Association's Chancellor flag competition from May 25 to 27, 2007. The Patrol was led by Keeshan Ramkissoon and included Jeremy Fuller, Francois Harewood, David Johnston, Johann Kerr, Jean-Marc Pierre, Sachin Ramcharan and Jonathan Wilson  The patrol placed first in the Nelson Matthew First Aid Challenge trophy and second in the Chancellor Flag competition.
   
• INVESTITURE CEREMONY:

• EASTER CAMP:
  Sixty scouts attended the Easter Camp at Pt Gourde from Sunday April 01 to Wednesday April 04, 2007.
   
• ST. JOSEPH'S DAY SPLASH:
  Another  function to raise funds to enable the troop to attend the World Jamboree was held at the Lions Civic Centre on Sunday March 18, 2007. There was entertainment by Blue Ventures, Tripolians Steel Band and calypsonians. Those who attended enjoyed the dinner and entertainment.
   
• BEACH CLEANUP:
  On Sunday February 11th, 2007 a number of scouts assisted in the annual clean up of the beach at Matura prior to the start of the leatherback turtle nesting season. The scouts also were awarded a trophy for winning the sand turtle building competition.
   
• CHRISTMAS CAMP:
  Eighty scouts attended the Christmas camp at Pt Gourde from Monday December 11th to Thursday December 14th, 2006.
   
• WORLD JAMBOREE ONE DAY CAMP:
  A one day camp for all scouts in Trinidad who will be attending the World Scout Jamboree in 2007 was held at the Southern Scout Headquarters in San Fernando on Saturday December 9th, 2006. Forty six scouts from 1st Trinidad Sea Scouts attended the camp.
   
• ANNUAL SOCA PARANG FUNDRAISER:
  "A Touch of Christmas" was held "Under the Trees" at the Normandie Hotel on Saturday November 25, 2006 from 4:00PM to 11:00PM. The function was attended by over 800 people who thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Top parang bands Los Alumnos de San Juan, Rio Suave, Carib Santa Rosa, Los Parranderos de UWI and Viva Nueva along with calypsonians Crazy, Ninja, King Wellington and Prince Unique with singer Marilyn Williams and MC George Gonzalez had the crowd entertained throughout. Dinner which included traditional Christmas dishes - pastelles, ham and turkey was served. 
   
• RADIO INTERVIEW:
  Four scouts, Kerron James, Corri Latapy, Keeshan Ramkissoon and David Johnston along with Scout Leader Mrs Grace Murray were interviewed on Radio 91.1 FM on Thursday November 16, 2006. The interview centred on scouting and on the 21st World Jamboree to be held in the UK in 2007.
   
• ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS (RYLA):
  The Rotary Club held its 2006 Youth Leadership Awards conference from November 13th to 15th 2006 at the Central Bank Auditorium. Four scouts, Che Perez, Antonio Emmanuel, Johann Kerr and  Elliot Clarke attended under the sponsorship of the Maraval Rotary Club. The conference was opened by former President Sir Ellis Clarke and the theme was "Preservation of Planet Earth In The Hands of Youth".
   
• CAREER GUIDANCE:
  A talk and discussion on tertiary education options (career options) was held at the Boathouse on Saturday September 30, 2006 and attended by a number of scouts and their parents. The talk was delivered by a past scout Dean Murray along with Marc Barrow. Follow up talks are planned for scouts which will focus on career guidance.
   
• JULY CAMP 2006
  The camp was held at Pt Gourde from Monday July 10 to Thursday July 13, 2006. Sixty eight scouts attended the camp. Some scouts remained until Sunday July 16.
   
• CORPUS CHRISTI (June 15, 2006):
  Over thirty scouts attended Holy Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Independence Square, Port of Spain on Corpus Christi, June 15, 2006 and then led the parade and procession with the Eucharist around Independence Square.
   
• ANNUAL BARBECUE:
  The annual fund raising Barbecue was held at St. Mary's College on Saturday June 10, 2006.
   
• LIFEGUARD DUTIES - BLANCHISSEUSE BEACH:
  Once again the scouts provided lifeguard services for the children of the Orphanage during their annual outing to Blanchisseuse Beach on Sunday May 14, 2006.
   
• EASTER CAMP 2006:
  Easter camp was held at Pt Gourde from April 9 to 12, 2006. Fifty six  boys attended the camp.
   
• FUND RAISING FOR JAMBOREE & SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
  This function was held on March 19, 2006 and those who attended enjoyed the lunch which was served and the entertainment provided by Roy Cape All Stars, Trini Jacobs and calypsonians Luta and Bally.
